WSUS 3.0 is also available via the Beta Microsoft Update Catalog!
The new beta MU Catalog provides access to all content in the Microsoft Update service, and also includes integration with WSUS 3.0. This will enable you to import drivers, generally distributed hotfix releases (like 927891), and other content into WSUS from the MU Beta Catalog! Keep in mind the Catalog is beta, but give it a whirl on a test server. If you are looking to download WSUS 3.0, give the MU Catalog Beta a try…
Note… you can also go to the Catalog and search for “WSUS”.
How about making 917021 (wireless client update for XP) available on the beta catalog?
After installing 927891, I could no longer sustain an RDP connection over the VPN to my desktop machine at work. I could RDP to other machines and leapfrog from there to my desktop workstation successfully, but if I tried to RDP directly, it would connect but not respond to mouse or keyboard requests, struggle to keep the connection, disconnecting and reconnecting, and finally losing connectivity altogether. Pinging the workstation over the VPN shows only 24 ms response time, so that isn't the problem. After uninstalling it on the workstation the problem went away. I found another thread where someone could not get online after installing this update, when removed, it went away (http://www.eggheadcafe.com/software/aspnet/29994392/kb927891-now-on-windows-u.aspx)
I believe there is reason to be cautious in installing this update. I will be blocking this install for our environment until I find more information about this since we rely heavily on Terminal Services.
So I need to OK the WSUS 3.0 update for the computer that runs my WSUS server, and this will install the update tree, leaving the server running WSUS 2.0 but clients that connect to it will self-update to 3.0.
Is this correct?
KB936301 (Selfupdate tree upgrade) seems to be available from the catalog site but NOT on the MS Download Center.
Is there any plan where KB936301 would be available from the Download Center as well?
(the link in the KB content points to the Windows Update Agent 3.0 exe file)
