  • Your thoughts on WSUS and SMS 'better together"

Not sure if you've seen this posting in Bill Anderson's blog, but for those of you who may use SMS and WSUS together in the same environment, we'd sure like to understand more about the different reasons that works well for you!

Any comments you can provide on bill's post (or this one ) would be much appreciated.

Thanks and have a great weekend!

  • Follow-up Information on Tues (7/11) release

Some of you may have run into difficulty in downloading yesterdays' WSUSscan.cab before 6:30pm PST.

If you did synch down yesterdays' updates before 6:30pm PST, you will need to resynch again to get the latest cab file and ensure you are detecting and deploying all the latest July releases.

The MSRC has a blog posting with more detail about the WSUSscan.cab publishing delay here:

  • WSUSv3 B2 and SUS support Lifecycle

Hi folks - Long week - lots of excitement here as we prepare for B2 release coming out 3rd quarter of this calendar year.  We're quite excited internally about this release and we've had some very favorable feedback on the new UI & feature  capabilities from our customer advisory council!!

Timely too as I know there are some of you SUS 1.0 diehards that may need a little reminder December '06 is coming right up.  If you don't remember, SUS 1.0 will be at the end of its support life cycle Dec' 06.  Dont wait until the last minute to make the move to WSUS.

Thats all on these 2 things:)  We'll keep you posted on B2 excitement as things progress!

    Cheers - Bobbie

  • New WSUS Product Category - No associated updates for WSUS .....yet

    Hi there !

There will be a new product category in your synch options today after todays’ synchronization with MU servers.  Under the Windows Live family you will see the new product category Windows Live Mail Desktop, a consumer e-mail application and RSS reader that is part of Windows Live’s suite of applications.  Updates will not be published to WSUS during this consumer application beta.  However, after the release of this product, updates will be available to the WSUS channel.  To learn more about Windows Live suite of applications and this new beta go to  http://ideas.live.com.
