Good news on the Windows Vista deployment front for all you IT professionals...

Many things have changed in Windows Vista that will significantly help ease the deployment processes.  These include the new out-of-the-box imaging technologies, the XML-based migration scripts, new tools for image engineering (ImageX and System Image Manager), enhancements to the unattend.xml format, as well as an updated version of the Microsoft Solution Accelerator for Business Desktop Deployment 2007 (BDD 2007) Beta 1.  Microsoft has designed a comprehensive standard and tested set of guidance and automation to make desktop deployment projects easier and more predictable.

An open beta version of BDD 2007 is now available on connect.microsoft.com and enables Lite Touch deployments of Windows Vista and the 2007 Microsoft Office system desktops with minimal infrastructure requirements.  This beta release includes all the deployment tools you’ll need to start pre-production deployment testing.  BDD 2007 uses an integrated deployment workbench, built on top of ImageX, System Image Manager, Windows PE 2.0 and WDS.

If you want to get started, visit connect.microsoft.com and apply for the Business Desktop Deployment 2007 (Beta) for Windows Vista and the 2007 Microsoft Office system program.

  • I would like to stay up to date with new information on windows vista and office 2007 please.

  • really vista makes me sick this time.. having about 1gb of mem? comon'.. this is a lot of memory. Why in the world it would take that much... take in to note that not all people would have the capability to upgrade to this type of pcs. I am sorry to say even if I am a Microsoft fan, but this would lead to lost of users I guess. People are getting wiser now and with the offer of lower specs for Linux counterparts and its improving interface, its really bad...

  • Am I right in finding that when connected to a Remote Desktop session, the games that come with Vista are not available?

  • I love Vista!
I just need a driver for my new Linksys WPC300N Wireless adapter!

I enjoy Vsta and will be willing to give any help I can

  • IE7 Beta 3 was released, is there an upgrade that supports Vista yet? Would like shiny new version too, might solve some instability issues.
