I want to learn as much as I can about SBS 2003. I have just installed a Trial on a Box here in my Home Test Lab, are there advantages to running in a workgroup with out AD?

I know that AD has all the good features for security etc. But I have some Small Business Clients that want SBS 2003 in the workgroup enviroments. I have always been able to find lots of Data on AD setups, but not on Advanced Workgroup set ups with a Linksys NAT Router.

Should I use SBS DHCP? or leave it with Linksys DHCP? One of my enviroments have a 802.11g Linksys and another has a 8 port Linksys. I want to keep it as simple as possible for my Small Business Users but secure as possible. All suggestions would be apprechited. Thank you in advance.

Michael

re: Windows Small Business Server 2003 R2 - Get the details here!

Guy!
Thanks for the information. From what I can read here is that you will "only" add SQL 2005 as an "real" update. Since both the patch exchnage the Exchage databas limitation is something you can download for free.
-WSUS for patch
SP2 for Exchange to get the 72 GB database

I think you need to add more value if people need to pay for the update!

re: Windows Small Business Server 2003 R2 - Get the details here!

Hi,

I just hit the MS Concierge, which tells me that there are *no* upgrade options for R2 - i.e., you have to buy the *whole* product again to upgrade your systems.

What gives?

Adam.

re: Windows Small Business Server 2003 R2 - Get the details here!

Hi Guy,

Are we planning on putting any of the Windows Server 2003 R2 features into the R2 version of SBS? In particular are we going to have the DFS-R technologies in there?
