As part of our efforts to deliver capability enhancements and service improvements on a faster release cadence, the Windows Intune team will be rolling out the following new features to customers from 8/26/2014 to 9/2/2014:

  1. iOS and Windows Phone 8/8.1 Email Profile Provisioning for Windows Intune
Email Profile Provisioning allows you to provision devices with email profiles and restrictions by using Exchange ActiveSync, thereby enabling your users to access corporate email on their devices with minimal setup required on their part. This feature will be made available to customers using the Windows Intune standalone service and is already available to customers using Windows Intune with Configuration Manager. You can read more about Email Profile Provisioning here.
  2. Mobile Policy Support for Enterprise Mode in Internet Explorer for Windows 8.1/8.1 RT
Enterprise Mode is a compatibility mode that runs on Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 8.1 Update. It enables the rendering of websites using a modified browser configuration that’s designed to emulate Internet Explorer 8. This feature will be made available to customers using the Windows Intune standalone service as well as customers using Windows Intune with Configuration Manager. You can read more about Enterprise Mode here and learn more about the Windows Intune settings to control Enterprise Mode here.

  • Hi guys,

I will share my experience here regarding InTunes & Modern Applications deployment.
For me the top priority is to support .Appx automatic updates as it is a real issue for those like me with Modern apps deployed on the field. User can use the Corporate Portal but if they don't ...nothing happens which means lot of them are still using old versions of our businesw apps and don't enjoy benefits of the latests releases.

Also you have to show the example regarding Modern apps : all Microsoft Apps should be showcases of what developpers can do. Therefore the Corporate Portal should bring more features and value, like using Live Tiles to show users explicitly that updates are available.
Feel free to contact me if you need more detailed feedback on this.

Hoping that the Q4 release will bring such improvments that are mandatory to push forward Modern apps deployment for businesses.

    Best regards,

    Emmanuel

  • Nice improvements.. What I really need is a stripped down version that does basic management close to the chromebook management console so I can roll out low cost windows tablets or Surface 2's instead of chromebooks.....

  • Hi Guys: When is Apple VPP integration coming?
