7/16/2013 UPDATE: We are delaying this deployment at this time. We are currently evaluating a new date & time for this to be deployed and will update this blog posting in the next few days with the new information.
The Windows Intune service will be releasing an update to our Windows Intune Endpoint Protection (WIEP) agent beginning on (TBD). Microsoft regularly releases anti-malware platform updates to guarantee consistency in protection, performance, robustness, and usability in a malware landscape that is constantly changing.
APAC is scheduled for: (UTC) 7/29/2013 4:30:00 PM - 7/30/2013 1:30:00 AMNorth America & EMEA are scheduled for: (UTC) 7/30/2013 4:30:00 PM - 7/31/2013 1:30:00 AM
There is no service downtime during this release.
Since this is an agent update, computers may have to be restarted after the update is applied; in most cases however, a reboot is not required. Thanks,The Windows Intune Team
In San Francisco at Build 2013, during the keynote they said that as well as having the management agent built into Windows 8.1 on all SKU's that Windows Intune would support full management of all SKU's.
As it was a dev conference, I might have been the only one who clapped for that one :)
Will this July update allow support for non Pro/Enterprise SKU's of Windows?
No, this update is not targeted towards enabling that feature set.
When is the next major update to Intune? Would that be before Windows 8.1 as I currently can't manage Windows 8.1 preview machines we are testing.
