Hello! It's Monday! That means it's time for another Interview with a Wiki Ninja!

Today we're going to talk to Patris_70, a very proactive wiki writer, who has authored 110 TechNet Wiki articles! That includes some English articles about Active Directory and a lot of articles in our growing collection of Persian/Farsi language articles here: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/tags/fa_2D00_IR/default.aspx.

Patris_70's Profile

Now let's get started!

Who are you, where are you, and what do you do? What are your specialty technologies?

My name is Patris. I am Iranian, but I am living in Hamburg, Germany. I work for an IT Consulting Company. I studied Electronics & Computers in Iran. My specialties are AD, GPO, and Windows (I am a Windows 3.x kid).

What are your big projects right now?

Several years ago, I started with Self-Study, than MCSE, MCITP (EA), and CCNA. I learned Dell Servers and SAN. I am learning VMware Esxi 5.

In Iran, I had a lot of MS and Telecommunications (CO & PBX) projects. We currently have a Cloud project for one customer.

I'm also working on translating Active Directory Administrator’s Pocket Consultant to the Farsi (Persian) language. Click here to see the translation progress.

And after this book, another 11 MS books (all books for free). Thanks again to Microsoft and the O'Reilly book publisher. I am planning to record video tutorials too.

Besides your work on TechNet Wiki, where do you contribute?

I love community collaborations. I'm contributing on the Cisco Persian forum & the Persian Admins forum and on some TechNet forums (mostly in the AD forum).

What is TechNet Wiki for? Who is it for?

TechNet Wiki is for everybody. TechNet Wiki has the best information, knowledge, and articles about MS products. Everyone can write articles and share information. Everyone is ready to help on the Wiki.  Also, What we expect even more is that everything is ready for us to use (free space for articles and images, MS Word Editor built in, and other functions). Remember several years ago, we wanted to read and understand some documents or articles, or found problems in a blog post, but this information was not complete or clear!! Now anyone can edit and improve the information.

Now, we can find the best information and articles in TechNet Wiki and we can find them very easily (just type your word in search box and Bingo).

What do you do with TechNet Wiki, and how does that fit into the rest of your job?

When I read articles from experts in TNWiki, I need to just test what I learn on my TestLab, and then I got a free training. Also, because of this, my Wiki information stays up to date, and I get new ideas for more Wiki articles. Over 70% of the articles in TNWiki are real-world scenarios. That's exactly what I need in my job.

What is it about TechNet Wiki that interests you?

I like a lot of the themes that are written on TechNet Wiki, but the main ones that interest me are: AD, GPO/GPP, Troubleshooting, and Exchange.

On what Wiki articles do you spend most of your time?

Active Directory Administrator’s Pocket Consultant book (click here to see the translation progress). Because the book has over 300 pages, and I must translate it correctly.

What are your favorite Wiki articles you’ve contributed?

Active Directory Attributes in the ADUC GUI Tool (en-US)

How to View or Delete Active Directory Delegated Permissions (en-US)

How to Set the Keyboard Layout through Group Policy (GPO)

Step-by-Step Migration DHCP from Windows Server 2003 to Windows Server 2008 R2 with Windows Server Migration Tools (en-US)

Who are your top 5 favorite Wiki article writers?

Dr. Thomas W Shinder

Richard Mueller

Luciano Lima

Kurt L Hudson

Henrik Walther

Who has impressed you in the Wiki community, and why?

Ed Price, Yuri Diogenes, Richard Mueller (MVP), and Fernando Lugão Veltem.

Every time, if I have a problem, Ed helps me and answer me immediately.

Yuri Diogenes is Mr. Master & Leader. We know about his great articles. But, as Ed wrote in this post, he is a leader.

Richard writes great articles, and I have learned a lot from him (both Wiki articles and forum answers).

Fernando Lugão Veltem is a great guy. I have not seen anyone with so much power. He writes and edits so many articles and answers so many questions on forums.

What does success look like for TechNet Wiki?

The success of TNWiki is to grow it. Every day, we see new people with great articles. Now, Wiki is a reference for people and many people have learned how it can be so easy to write an article and share information. For me, this means success.
