Hello TechNet Wiki Community! Today in Article Spotlight bring articles on the Microsoft Azure! What is Microsoft Azure?By Microsoft:
It’s IaaS + PaaS
Azure is the only major cloud platform ranked by Gartner as an industry leader for both infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) and platform-as-a-service (PaaS). This powerful combination of managed and unmanaged services lets you build, deploy, and manage applications any way you like for unmatched productivity.
It’s hybrid ready
Some cloud providers make you choose between your datacenter and the public cloud. Not Azure. Its enterprise-proven hybrid cloud solutions give you the best of both worlds, expanding your IT options without added complexity. With Azure, data storage, backup, and recovery become more efficient and economical. It’s also easier to build applications that span both on-premises and the cloud.
It’s open and flexible
Azure supports any operating system, language, tool, and framework— from Windows to Linux, SQL Server to Oracle, C# to Java. It puts the best of Windows and Linux ecosystems at your fingertips, so you can build great applications and services that work with every device.
It’s always up, always on
You’ll share the same enterprise-tested platform that powers Skype, Office 365, Bing, and Xbox. Azure offers a 99.95% availability SLA, 24x7 tech support, and round-the-clock service health monitoring. That’s why more than 57% of Fortune 500 companies rely on Azure today. From live streaming Olympic events to online multiplayer online games, our customers are doing some amazing things.
It’s economical and scalable
Azure can quickly scale up or down to match demand, so you only pay for what you use. Per-minute billing and a commitment to match competitor prices for popular infrastructure services like compute, storage and bandwidth means you’re always getting unbeatable price for performance.
Examples of Use:
- Hosting their remote desktop services;- E- mail services , instant messaging, videoconferencing;- Your ERP and CRM applications (web or otherwise);- Your applications as SaaS ;- Application Development with Visual Studio Online;- Load Testing, Performance ;- Aplications monitoring with AppInsights ;- and more ..

Of course we have our own TechNet Wiki Guru contest where I participate in judging recent Wiki articles. This is great fun, and I appreciate that people take the time and effort to create something to help and inform others. Even for the Wiki articles that don't turn out to be so great, I always appreciate the fact that someone shares knowledge. This is a great thing, and I fully enjoy being involved in that.
The judging thing is kinda addictive and this year I've been asked to be one of the judges of the Imagine Cup and I happily said yes (imaginecup.com). This is a contest sponsored by Microsoft and students all over the world are allowed to pitch an idea about a software app or web site and defend different aspects about the implementation of that idea. I've looked at my share of the applications and the participants literally live all over the world, in places like Canada, Nepal, and Brazil. I've looked at proposals about exciting software helping visually impaired people, illiteracy, prevent people from drowning, and completely different topics. Btw, me mentioning these specific topics in no way reflects my preferences regarding the applications.
If you think this is an interesting competition, follow the Imagine Cup web site because pretty soon we will know who will be this year's winner. If you're a student, see if you want to participate next year!

Today's featured article is from Agustín Mántaras:
BizTalk script to deal with suspended messages (vbs)
BizTalk Server stores messages associated with suspended pipelines in the MessageBox database. If a failure occurs in the pipeline, BizTalk Server suspends the instance of a message. There are two types of suspended service instances:
Depending on the cause of the suspension, you may be able to resume services that BizTalk Server suspends -- for example, if an orchestration hits a Suspend shape, or if a transport was unable to deliver a message, BizTalk Server does not automatically remove suspended instances that you cannot resume from the MessageBox database. You can choose to save a service instance to disk before removing it from the suspended queue.

Thanks to Agustin for such a great article!
Hello and welcome everybody to our TNWiki Article Spotlight on Tuesday.
During the last week a lot of Azure-related articles have hit our wiki. Most of them were published by EngSoonCheah, a Microsoft Student Partner like me, and today I want to introduce you to one of them - Azure API Management Services.
Azure API Management is one of the services which Microsoft shipped this year to Azure. It is extremely powerful if you want to create a single surface point for several APIs in your organization. You can create products, manage authorization and a lot more. This article introduces API Management and its advantages and walks you step-by-step how you can create an API Management Service. After explaining APIs, products, policies, user management and analytics shortly the article walks you through each area to setup your own complete API service.
If you have the time and the interest, you should also check out the other articles published by EngSoonChea.

All the votes are in!
And below are the results for the TechNet Guru Awards, November 2014 !!!!
The TechNet Guru Awards celebrate the technical articles on TechNet, contributed from valued wiki authors like YOU!
Each month, the contributions are scored by a panel of judges (5 per category, 2-4 in each are MS experts), and the winners of each category are showered with love and attention from all corners of TechNet.
See the links at the bottom, to find out more about the competition and how to enter.
We have picked the top three highest scored contributions for each category to bestow our awards upon.
The awards are in gold, silver and bronze, the gold obviously being the top winner of the category.
The last column is just a few of the comments judges made during the judging process.
In some cases, we have not obtained permission to use the judges names, so they have been reduced to initials.
My fellow wiki ninjas will be digging deeper into some of these articles in this blog series, so watch out for those.
Any of our judges can exercise their right to veto an article out of the medals, if they do not feel it meets minimum requirements for a medal.
When this is the case, we will at least give an indication in the comments, so you understand why.
A big thank you also to the other authors who did not make the top three of each category.
Some articles only just missed out, so we may be returning to discuss those too, in future blogs.
Also worth a mention were the other entries this month:
AB: "My favourite!"
Ed: "This is a fantastic topic! Short and sweet! It could benefit from section headers and a See Also section. Great article!"
AB: "Very nice article, thanks!"
Ed: "Great content and topic. It could benefit from more descriptions and formatting around the processes. The images are very helpful!"
AB: "Another good article"
Ed: "Great descriptions and use of images! It could benefit from sections and a TOC. Good job on the instructions!"
JH: "Very detailed article. Can't wait to see part two!"
Ed: "What a fantastic article! Great topic, strong Introduction, great use of code snippets, and it ends very well with the See Also section and the MSDN Code Gallery link!"
JH: "Had the same problem some time ago. Had been great if this article was available back then."
Ed: "Great job on the code snippets! Could benefit from a TOC. Very useful topic!"
JH: "Personally, I don't use Prism in my day by day work, but love it that articles about frameworks important as Prism are now also on our wiki."
Ed: "Wow! What an incredibly thorough article! Great formatting and depth! It could have benefited from a TOC with more header sections. Love the Gallery link to the code!"
-------------------------------- 8< --------------------------------
A huge thank you to EVERYONE who contributed an article to November's competition.
Hopefully we will see you ALL again in December 2014's listings?
If you haven't contributed an article for this month, and you think you can create a more useful, clever and better presented wiki article than the winners above, here's your chance! :D
Best regards,Pete Laker

Forum posts:
Coming soon!
It's the day of the week, that Wiki Ninjas write a post highlighting a TechNet Wiki article. And I am so excited, as I will be writing that particular post today and most importantly, this will be my first ever article on one of the Microsoft's blogs.
So let's see what have we got for today's TNWiki Article Spotlight. It's C#: Generic Type Parameters And Dynamic Types from Magnus (MM8).
This article was initially published on October 2014 and has won the Silver medal in last October's Microsoft TechNet Guru Awards, under Visual C# category.
Generics are one of the oldest features in .NET framework as it was introduced with .NET Framework 2.0 and this article is demonstrating a very good approach to achieve how we can use generics with a type parameter T which will be resolved at run time. The article is short and to the point, and has some good code snippets explaining things on the go. I am sure, you will not feel bored while you are reading the article.
You can read the full article from the following link.
C#: Generic Type Parameters And Dynamic Types
Have a nice week ahead!
Happy Coding!

Following yesterday's post about the Updated Ninja Belts, I was contacted by legendary TNWiki Ninja Durva Ramos, who spotted a slight discrepancy with the "who has what" page.
Durva is currently Black Belt 1st Dan, and not far off 2nd Dan!
This is what he found on the "who has what" page :
...but his last TC win was 1st November 2014, after his last belt promotion, so the "Needs another" text was WRONG!!! D:
Digging through all the code for the Belt Calculator, and the "Who has what" HTML page generator, I finally found the mistake was only with the page generator.
So the calculator was running correctly, but the "needs" HTML generator was wrong.
Here is the updated version:
I hope that is a bit clearer too.
In this case it is just a coincidence that Durva had a Top Contributor win the save day as I ran the Calculator and he won his last belt upgrade. If you look through the current winners, you'll see that isn't always the case.
Thanks to Durva for spotting the discrepancy, and good luck with those final fifteen articles!
Regards,Pete
Great news Wiki Ninjas!
The Ninja Belt Calculator has just been run, and the list of Ninja Belts have been updated!
The result has been updated in the following WIki article: Wiki Ninja Belt Status: Who Has What Belt Ranking
The calculator has been run bi-monthly for the last two runs, but now we have everything in place, we will be increasing this to monthly, or even weekly!
Anyone who "comes onto our radar" (either by winning a Weekly Top Contributor Award, winning a TechNet Technical Guru Award, being interviewed or having a featured article) gets added to our database.
We then track your progress and achievements, and award Ninja Belts - depending on your progress.
Ninja belt ranks include your profile stats, so we have to import them too.
Altogether, this is crunched through our Ninja Belt Calculator, based on the rules defined here.
And below is a list of those community members who have just gained a rank...
Congratulations to all these Wiki Ninjas for gaining ranks this time round!
Hello and welcome everybody to our Wednesday - Wiki Life post.
Today I'm proud to introduce you to a landmark in the history of the TechNet Wiki: The International TechNet Wiki Summit 2015.
Initiated by Durval Ramos, the TNWiki Summit is a conference held by community members, based on TechNet Wiki articles. The conference will have three tracks: one about developers articles, one about infrastructure articles and one about articles about the Wiki itself. Currently the registration for speakers and listeners is closed, but you should stay tuned for updates. The organization committee is currently setting up the whole conference, including a pre-selection of speakers, possible sessions, etc.
Over the coming weeks we will keep you posted with updates regarding the progress of the summit organization. So, stay tuned!
Today's featured article is from Chervine:
Creating and Querying Microsoft Azure DocumentDB
DocumentDB is the latest storage option added to Microsoft Azure. It is a no-sql storage service that stores JSON documents natively and provides indexing capabilities along with other interesting features.
See the article here:
Thanks to Chervine for providing our community with great articles like this one!
Welcome to another interview! Today's interview is with Andy O'Neill!
Some stats:
Here are some of Andy's TechNet Guru award-winning articles:
Now let's get to the interview...
Who are you, where are you, and what do you do? What are your specialty technologies?
Hi, I am Andy (Andrew) O’Neill. I live in Liverpool, England just up the hill from Strawberry Fields and John Lennon’s house.
I’m more a generalist than a specialist since I lead teams, design and build web, windows, services and database. Recently that includes Asp.net mvc, WPF, WCF, various data manipulation and reporting and SQL Server.
On some projects my speciality is more people orientated than technical - herding cats and taming tigers.
I’m a long term contractor and Director of a software house.
What Wiki projects are you working on?
I have several ideas and the MVVM Entity framework series is ongoing. This is pretty time consuming since it’s basically a project. Like any project there are bugs.
Another complication is that it’s supposed to be beginner friendly as well as offer enterprise level design advice. Rather than just write stuff like I would normally I have to consider the reader. How much goes in each step is particularly tricky. I think the first step probably had too much in the one article.
What is it about TechNet Wiki that interests you?
Learning is always good.
I find the monthly Guru competition particularly interesting.
I like the mix of articles. When I am researching something I am an equal opportunity googler. You have to know what you’re looking for in order to google it though. The competition highlights things I probably wouldn’t have thought to read up on.
Sometimes the judges decisions are quite surprising so it’s also interesting to see what a group of experts feel are the most significant articles.
From a personal perspective feedback is always useful.
What sort of Wiki articles do you contribute?
Most of my articles are on WPF – based on article count you might think that was pretty much all I do. It’s far from the only technology I work in but I find it particularly interesting.
What are your favorite Wiki articles you’ve contributed?
But I love all my children equally ;^)
Tricky to pick specific articles to mention. I think the WPF Entity Framework MVVM Walk Through https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/WPF-EntityFramework-MVVM-c7167301 should help a lot of people since it’s a common requirement that is difficult for the developer new to WPF. If there are any other such articles, I’ve not found them.
The point of writing articles is to help people so the more the merrier.
I also like the CollectionView tips article: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/26673.wpf-collectionview-tips.aspx
Denormalisation is an interesting subject and can avoid a performance disaster:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/26388.sql-server-pragmatic-denormalisation.aspx
Writing the passing c# parameters was useful in that it crystalised my own understanding on the matter – which is confusing.
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/26371.c-passing-parameters.aspx
What could we do differently on TechNet Wiki?
I think the tooling used to write articles could do with some work.
Any CSS style has to be inline, it would be nice if there were standard classes one could use.
Do you have any tips for new Wiki authors?
Don’t use Internet Explorer !
I now write most articles in Word. You can use the heading styles to give you heading H1,H2,H3 etc easily and I already know how to use Word. Paste in and strip formatting.
Photos:
Just to prove I don’t actually spend all my time in a pub drinking beer, I included a picture of me in the great outdoors. Probably on the way to a pub :^)
Thank you Andy for your amazing contributions!
Welcome back for another analysis of contributions to TechNet Wiki over the last week, a day late due to life being messy like that :)

Hello Wiki Ninjas!
Today I want to introduce you the Italian TechNet Wiki Ninjas Facebook Group.
https://www.facebook.com/groups/TechNetWikiNinjasIT/
The community of all the Italian wikiers started working more than a year ago: a post on both the Italian MSDN and TechNet Forums made the Italian community aware of the existence of the TechNet Wiki and of the localization of all the content available in the Wiki into several, different languages, thus asking all of the interested Italian members of both online (TechNet, MSDN and Answers Forums) and offline communities to jump into and start contributing.
That post was just another way to push the Community and make it grow more and more, because we had already created a page (more than two years ago) to collect articles and links to other articles written by our authors, that are both creating brand new content and contributing to the translation of the available content into Italian or from Italian. We've established a very simple manifesto, too.
After a few more than two years, we can be very satisfied of our Community, but stay tuned: the best is yet to come! ;-)
Until next time, have a great Wiki-ing!
Luigi Bruno

A few weeks ago I was happy to attend the TechEd Europe in sunny Barcelona. For me as a developer there were tons of announcements related to Azure and Office 365.
Through the announcement of the Office 365 REST API I did some research about some developer technologies available with Office 365. In a short time frame I moved from Barcelona to Oslo. Did I really travel to Norway? No! Oslo was the code name for a project which is now know as Office Delve. During my research I was happy to find an amazing wiki article related to this topic. SharePoint Online: An Introduction to Office Delve, initially started by Geetanjali Arora. Why is this one amazing? This article contains everything I love in an article:
A big THANK YOU to Geetanjali for starting this one! I hope to see more article like this one in the future.
