UDPATE: Why are Businesses Partners Leaving Google Apps?
NOTE: THIS IS A REPOST FROM LAST WEEK to due to migration of blog platform for all Microsoft blogs.
Earlier this week, I blogged about customers who put Google Apps through its paces and realized it was ‘more pony than horse’. Partners are now weighing in that Google Apps isn’t meeting their or their customers’ needs either.
Today, Capgemini announced a newly formed alliance with Microsoft to ‘market and deliver the Microsoft Business Productivity Online Suite”. MaryJoFoley blogs about this here. Capgemini is training 1,000 people on BPOS and building new solution to migrate customers from competitive platforms to BPOS.
This news already is gaining traction with our customers. One example is C10, a French consumer-products distributor that has adopted BPOS for its entire organization. It did so because BPOS could deliver the security, enterprise-grade capabilities, and familiar experience the company wanted.
Reminder, Capgemini previously had signed a deal to offer Google Apps services to their install base. It’s clear that customers are voting with their feet, and smart partners like Capgemini are moving with them.
Chris Pyle of Champion Solutions Group also wrote a great guest post over on the MS Online blog about why Google Apps is a ‘roach motel’ (you can check in, but you can’t check out) and just an ultimatum for businesses. Chris goes on to validate what other customers have said, “Google Apps simply were not robust enough to meet enterprise needs and offered very little room to provide our customers with additional value or customization. We don’t use Google Apps and we don’t recommend them to our clients.”
Finally, Geeman Yip, CEO of BitTitan shared his thoughts on a guest post regarding why he’s betting his business on BPOS. In fact, his migration tools were what powered Vinci PLC’s move off of Google Apps. (video below) Again, Geeman validates what customers are finding over and over, “Google Apps was designed for consumers, not businesses. Microsoft employs the same software that Fortune 500 companies around the world use for companies of all sizes.”
