I meant to. I really did.
But I got sick last week, and my energy level has been slow enough to come back that my focus was entirely elsewhere until about six last night.
I panicked. I gave fleeting consideration to throwing something hasty together, but everything I came up with struck me as lame, abusive to my audience, or (frequently) both. The fact that most of it also wasn’t funny was also a factor in my silence.
I slept soundly, which is always nice after such a difficult decision. Then, this morning, I found this, an example of what you get when someone who’s smart and funny (which I hope I am, most of the time) has time and energy to spend on a proper prank post..
..and some of the best laughs are in the comments.

Thanks, Ward! Coming from you, that's high praise. :)
I hope you're feeling better!
@Michelle: Each day is a little better than the previous, which is better than early last week!
Thanks for your kinds words, and for all of your work in the community! I enjoy your posts very much.. and I think you might have been part of the first-ever Twitter reference to this little corner of the Internets!
Just keep drinking the orange juice! That's my cure-all for everything. Although it may just be left-over braining washing from my days of living in Florida. :)
I'm honored to be part of your first-ever Twitter reference! Although I'm still waiting to see your name pop up on the elite ranks of the SQL Twitterati. ;)
@Michelle: wilco on the orange juice.. it certainly is very fresh down here. :)
If I was going to be a SQL Twitterato, wouldn't that require me to open a Twitter account? I've resisted so far.. are you suggesting my life will be better if I take the plunge?
