Non-Technical News: Redmond Juniors Now 1-1 At Yakima Tourney

Hello again from Yakima, Washington, where frequent visitors to this space will recall I've traveled to watch my son Kyle's team compete in the Yakima Mid Summer Special baseball tournament.

After yesterday's victory in the tournament opener, Redmond is playing a doubleheader of sorts today, with games at 9:00am and 6:00pm.  The nine o'clock game was an inter-pool matchup with Columbia Basin (not Prairie, as I reported yesterday), which won in impressive fashion, 11-3 in five innings.  The Columbia Basin crew showed a lot of heart and hustle (by their own request, they're playing three games today); they dove for every ball and slid into every base.  Lucas Peterson, Gavin McNelis, and Landon Bennett pitched their hearts out, but a few too many bases on balls and a couple of fielding miscues opened the floodgates.

Fortunately, this game will not impact Redmond's seeding within their pool.  Redmond's standing in the pool will be determined by tonight's 6:00 game against Prairie.

I'll of course let you know how that one goes..
