Andrew Auret is one of our hot shots MCS consultants in the UK. He emailed me earlier with some bits and pieces with regards to Hyper-V and sent me a really handy tip! Well like any handy tip I do like to pass it onto the community at large!
Cool registry entries in the Child guests under “HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Virtual Machine\Guest\Parameters” – Here you have access to:
HostName PhysicalHostName PhysicalHostnameFullyQualified VirtualMachineName
You can write a custom script and use these to display as part of BGInfo. As I have !
PingBack from http://www.ditii.com/2008/04/03/hyper-v-registry-settings/
This will help fill out my autocreation script.
THANKS!!
works fine under windows 2003 but it looks like under windows 2008 guests it always shows (none).
is there a security setting we can change to make it work?
