One interesting topic was suggested a couple of days ago by a colleague of mine.

As  SharePoint Developer , one needs to have all the things near. That means , on the development  workstation, we need the tools, the assemblies, the server, EVERYTHING.

Great.

And, installing the server on a client computer is as you very well know possible, as described here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee554869.aspx.

What perhaps is not that clearly explained is that the server , so installed , will be a SINGLESERVER (see here what that means) .

One of the noticeable effects in the UI is, in the Central Admin, Configuration Wizards, the Farm Configuration Wizard Page is EMPTY.

Why… that’s perfectly normal.

There is no farm in standalone mode.

Comments
  • Does this apply for single server deployments not on windows 7

  • Any deployment that was installed as standalone ( not as farm)
