Partners,

As a follow up to my last blog post Case Study: Dynamics GP on Microsoft Azure I want to let you know about an exciting new update to Dynamics GP 2013 R2 that allows for GP to be easily backed up to Azure Blob Storage!  Whether you are offering Dynamics GP as an RDS solution running on an Azure VM, or running Dynamics GP outside of Azure, you can seamlessly configure GP to backup to (and restore from) Azure blob storage.

For more details, click here.

As we’ve stated in several previous blog posts, our guidance for partners is to focus on providing packaged solutions on top of Azure, resulting in a finished, repeatable offering that will delight your customers.  Here’s a recap of what you can offer with Dynamics GP on Azure:

  • Dynamics GP running on an Azure VM
  • Users RDS into an Azure VM for access to GP (RDS can be licensed through a SPLA RDS SAL or RDS CAL w/ SA)
  • GP database is backed up to an Azure Blob Storage account

This is a great example of a partner offered packaged solution running on Azure and a great opportunity for existing GP partners looking to transition their business to the cloud.  What are you waiting for!!!

  • You can restore to your original Office 365 account or to an alternate account in your domain using CloudAlly’s migration service. The restore is non-destructive and a folder with all the restored data is created in your Office 365 account without overwriting existing information.
