Josh Condie – Microsoft has just announced the 2 certification paths to receive your MCSE for SQL Server 2012.  These tracks will be built upon the new technical certification redesign that Microsoft introduced just a few months back.  Following the April launch of SQL Server 2012, two new MCSE certifications will be introduced this month: Data Platform and Business Intelligence. Earn an MCSE: Data Platform certification to demonstrate your indispensable expertise to build enterprise-scale data solutions on-premises or in the cloud. Or showcase your skills in developing and deploying visually rich business intelligence solutions and reports by earning an MCSE: Business Intelligence certification. The MCSA: SQL Server 2012 certification validates a set of core SQL Server 2012 skills that are relevant across multiple solution areas.  Exams are scheduled to be available in mid-June in their live version. Upgrade exams are scheduled to be available by the end of August 2012.

  • These paths are already available with upgrade paths released yesterday

  • OK, I just got my SQL Server Database Development 2008. Now to get my 2012 certification, I have to do 3 MORE EXAMS????!!

Something tells me Microsoft wants to make money from their certifications. They get money for each exam, why not split an upgrade path into 3, then users have to pay for 3 exams and we make more money!

No wonder other people I know don't bother with SQL Server certifications. I think I won't bother now too, what a waste of my time.

  • Its a bit of a big change oving from the older model of only having to take 1 exam to the new model of having to take 3 exams.  The name is strange too; mcse... wasn't that the old NT cert?  doh!

  • Hi there,
Where do you find books for 70-464/5/6/7? there is none!
    Thanks,
    Oded Dror
