Abstract:

VMWare introduced virtualization ten years ago and, for a long time was essentially the sole supplier. But, as many federal agencies see their VMWare Enterprise Licensing Agreements (ELAs) expiring this year, for the first time they have a real diversity of potential replacement vendors to choose from.  Life in a multi-hypervor world requires federal agencies to keep a few things in mind to get the most out of their virtualization investments. This is especially true given that virtualization is an essential tool federal agencies are using to meet presidential mandates to migrate government operations into the cloud.
