Hi!

First let me apologize for the length of time since my last post.  Unfortunately this post is to report that UPHClean is now officially dormant.  Release bits for UPHClean v2.0 are not forthcoming.  There's no plan of record for release. This means that even if it was restarted it would be months or much longer to get a final package ready. At various point I had hope that I could get time together to produce a final package but it is not in the cards for the forseable future.  This is not happening.

This means that the current beta build (2.0.49.0) is the latest bits and will stay the only code available for the forseable future.  This code works well for most people (> 99%).  It does not function on Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7 nor Windows Server 2008 R2.  As I have mentioned in other posts there's definintely some possibility of machine running beta bits of UPHClean v2.0 to crash or hang.  The best course of action in those cases is to discontinue usage of UPHClean.

Thank you for you great support on making UPHClean a success.

  • Robin - Thank you very much for having worked on this code.  I've used both versions for many years and have appreciated the stability improvements you gave to my production TS environments.

  • Robin,

To me, UPHClean is quite a success story. I've used it for several years. It dramatically cut down on the number of times I would shut down a desktop or notebook, but come hours or days later to find it hung in the shutdown sequence. I imagine the work you did on it will still be seen in the built-in capabilities of Vista and later versions of Windows. I'm sure your time and skills are being used on other projects for the future, and UPHClean's usefulness is limited by XP's fade from being the predominant OS in use. I'll be having to make the move to a newer version of Windows pretty soon, myself. Thanks for making my time with XP a little smoother.

  • Hi!

Please, where I can find UPHClean Beta build (2.0.49.0)?  I want to test and maybe to use it too...

    Thanks,

  • Hi Robin,

Since last couple of months I am experiencing an application hang issue. I have an application installed on my computer and it gets unresponsive randomly, Referring the information in event viewer information is as "Hanging application appication name *.exe, version #####, hang module hungapp, version 0.0.0.0, hang address 0x00000000."

    In detail it is as:

    Event Type: Error

    Event Source: Application Hang

    Event Category: (101)

    Event ID: 1002

    Date: 11/13/2009

    Time: 2:04:09 AM

    User: N/A

    Computer:XXXX

    Description:

Hanging application APPLICATION NAME, version ####, hang module hungapp, version 0.0.0.0, hang address 0x00000000.

Is the utility UPHClean can help me in this case, I am not an administrator but can handle computer issues.

Your comments will really help me.

    Thanks in advance,

    MK
