SharePoint Developers listen up....Visual Studio 2012 Update 1 Now Available!
With Visual Studio 2012 Update 1 we’ve invested in building out significant new application lifecycle management (ALM) capabilities for SharePoint applications. This work is primarily centred around multiple forms of testing: from load testing that enables the stressing of SharePoint applications with simulated load and network conditions; to performance testing that enables recording and running performance suites against SharePoint solutions; to unit testing that enables coded UI tests for simulating user interaction and that enables using the Microsoft Fakes Framework for stubbing out SharePoint dependencies in unit tests.

Windows 8 / IIS 8 Concurrent Requests Limit
IIS 8 on Windows Server 2012 doesn’t have any fixed concurrent request limit, apart from whatever limit would be reached when resources are maxed. However, the client version of IIS 8, which is on Windows 8, does have a concurrent connection request limitation.

Introducing the SharePoint Hybrid Configuration Scenario
A SharePoint 2013 hybrid environment consists of an on-premises SharePoint 2013 farm and a tenancy in the new SharePoint Online. The integration of the two allows you to use certain resources from the two constituent environments to build unified solutions.

URL Rewrite – Protocol (http/https) in the Action
IIS URL Rewrite supports server variables for pretty much every part of the URL and http header. However, there is one commonly used server variable that isn’t readily available. That’s the protocol—HTTP or HTTPS.

SharePoint Developers listen up....Introducing SharePoint Emulators
The Visual Studio team is pleased to announce availability of Visual Studio 2012 SharePoint Emulators. Unit testing for SharePoint code is difficult. Ideally you would like to isolate code under test from the surrounding SharePoint framework. Isolation frameworks, such as Microsoft Fakes, can enable this code isolation. Unfortunately, as anyone who has followed this path will tell you, creating and maintaining the set of mocks and fakes for the SharePoint environment can be very costly. Luckily, the SharePoint Emulators team has done the heavy lifting for you. SharePoint Emulators provide a system of Fakes based shims implementing the basic behaviours of the SharePoint 2010 server object model.
