We discuss how clients and server find and allocate IP addresses locally and on the edge server to find the optimal media path, and we look into logs to see how the magic happens. We also discuss why this knowledge is very important to troubleshoot connectivity problems.

Prior to Modality Systems, John worked at Microsoft for 9 years in a variety of roles. He was a software engineer in the original Unified Communications group, shipping the first versions of Microsoft Office Live Communications Server and Office Communicator.
