Deploying Operating Systems with Configuration Manager 2007 (Part 1 of 2) (Level 300) - Friday, March 14, 2008, 11:30 AM Pacific Time (US & Canada)

This is the first of two webcasts on Microsoft System Center operating system deployment. Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 is the successor to Microsoft Systems Management Server 2003. In this session, we start with a look at how Configuration Manager 2007 provides control over the operating system for the enterprise. With an architecture that allows for granular control over deployment, Configuration Manager 2007 can help you get the right desktop image, applications, and configuration to the right hardware. Next, we manage the deployment server, and discuss the details of how to use the System Center Configuration Manager Microsoft Management Console (MMC) to set up a deployment task sequence. This is also an opportune time to talk about securing Configuration Manager 2007. Finally, we show you how to create a task sequence and deploy an operating system in a bare metal installation.

TechNet Webcast: Deploying Operating Systems with Configuration Manager 2007 (Part 2 of 2) (Level 300) - Friday, March 21, 2008, 11:30 AM Pacific Time (US & Canada)

In this second half of this webcast series, we employ additional tools that make Microsoft System Center operating system deployment even more useful to the administrator. First, we integrate Windows Deployment Services (WDS) with Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 to utilize PXE booting. Then, using the Microsoft Deployment Solution Accelerators, we plan and execute a large-scale deployment. We also show you how to track the deployment, using the reporting capabilities in Configuration Manager 2007.

Operating system deployment in Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager contains a broad range of capabilities and scenarios for both desktop and server deployments. This new series builds on the introductory content delivered at previous Tech Ready events. Here, we focus on task sequence design, image capture methodologies, complex disk and image configurations, as well as integration with disk encryption technology such as Windows BitLocker. This session assumes a base level of knowledge of System Center Configuration Manager operating system deployment.
