Last March, Shane Young and I sat down with Dave Coleman at the SharePoint conference in Seattle to review the solution design for Twynham School in the UK.
There is a new version of the Sharepoint learning kit coming out so we will be using that but in the past with have used the older versions of SLK.

re: Blogging with the Twynham School IT Team and Shane Young

Hi Robin

Not sure where you are in the world but if in the UK you can always call me to answer your question more fully but i will have a go here.

The Media files are streamed from the server using windows media services so the media files reside on the file system of the server the only thing in the sharepoint databases are the ASX wrapper files which is all serchable from sharepoint making it a breeze for the end users the find the files they require to play.

I hope that makes sense.

re: Blogging with the Twynham School IT Team and Shane Young

I was also wondering if Shane or the Twynham team considered implementing/using the SharePoint Learning Kit (http://www.microsoft.com/Education/SLK.mspx).

re: Blogging with the Twynham School IT Team and Shane Young

25,000....? large-scale???? Enterprise?????

Do the teachers need to learn to grab the URL of the media item and then create a link?

I have a project where there is a lot of video. We don't want to add these files to SharePoint, but we do want to make access and admin as transparent as possible.

(BTW: I first came across the work of the Twynham School several months ago and I was blown away. Excellent work!)
