Application Lockdown with Software Restriction Policies

If you're looking for ways to ease the burden on your IT department and reduce the TCO for your computers, you might want to try an application lockdown. This can have tremendous results, greatly reducing the amount of time your IT staff spends dealing with issues caused by unsupported applications.  And locking down applications throughout your company isn't as complex a task as you might think--you can just use Group Policy to enforce software restriction policies.

A software restriction policy controls what code a user can execute on their system. In the June issue of TechNet Magazine, Chris Corio and Durga Prasad Sayana provide an in-depth look at software restriction policies.  They cover everything from inventorying the apps used throughout your organization to authoring rules to enforcing policies. Check out the article to see how you can lock down the applications being run on systems throughout your organization.
