Brian and I have shipped Server Posterpedia V2 to the Windows Store. If you have already installed Posterpedia, it will notify you of the update.

In case your wondering, here is what we included in V2...

Image hotspots that allow you to get content specific to a part of the poster (new).

Semantic zoom that enables easy navigation of the different groups (new).

A full-screen viewing mode without the chrome and hotspots (new).

The ability to share a link to a poster through email (new).

App bar buttons specific to each poster.

Technical content for Hyper-V, Active Directory, Remote Desktop Services, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2008, Exchange Server
2010, Exchange Server 2007, SharePoint Server 2010, Windows Azure, SQL Server, Lync Server 2010, and Office 2013.

It’s updated frequently with new content.

For those running Windows 8, you can get the app from the Windows Store:

http://apps.microsoft.com/webpdp/en-US/app/server-posterpedia/f988071c-66dc-4281-8028-637ac0f09061

If you are not running Windows 8, you can check out the video I made - it shows you the new features of Server Posterpedia V2.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8sbH47l--_k&feature=youtu.be

I had a few emails from folks asking how they can pinch and zoom the posters in the Server Posterpedia app if they don't have a touch screen. No problems, Windows 8 is designed for all experiences. Simply use "Control Key + Mouse Scroll Wheel". Works great. :)

I know a lot of you collect my posters, so here is a nice new way to carry them around with you, especially on your Windows 8 tablets when they are released next month.

Many of you saw this app at TechEd NA and TechEd Europe and asked "When can I get it?"

So, I'm pleased to announce its available. If you’re running Windows 8, you can get it from the Windows
Store here:

http://aka.ms/sposterpedia

Oh, it is also free. There is a video here if you want to see it in action:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5tWAPWJ720

Think, poster-as-table-of-contents-for-technology-information. Think "Minority Report". Think "the presentation IS the information."

Try it, I'm sure you will like it. It is awesome, especially on a touch-screen.

Tell your friends, leave feedback. Big special thanks to Brian Lich and Tony Soper, just some of the best work collegues ever.

I've just posted the two more videos on Hyper-V and Dynamic Memory.

Dynamic Memory Architecture Part 1
New in Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1, this video discusses how Dynamic Memory has enhanced Hyper-V architecture and how we can configure Dynamic Memory on your Hyper-V servers.

You can grab the video here:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/edge/dynamic-memory-architecture-part-1.aspx

Dynamic Memory Architecture Part 2

This video discusses how Dynamic Memory is configured for virtual machines using Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1.

You can grab the video here:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/edge/dynamic-memory-architecture-part-2.aspx

Enjoy…..feedback is always welcome.

FREE (and short) animated videos on Hyper-V Architecture

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to let you know that I’ve started posting some new FREE (and short) animated videos on Hyper-V on my blog. These are designed to complement the Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V Component Architecture posters I published. The first one deals with installing Hyper-V and details the changes that take place to the Windows Server architecture. Since you told me you like short videos, nothing here will take more than 3-6 minutes.

In the coming weeks, I will be making some more videos available on Dynamic Memory, so check back. In the meantime….enjoy and feel free to send me any feedback.

You can find the video here:

I'm very pleased to announce the updated "Windows Server 2008 R2: Hyper-V Component Architecure (with SP1)" poster has been released. This time around, I've updated the original "Windows Server 2008 R2: Hyper-V Component Architecure " poster with the new SP1 technologies, RemoteFX and Dynamic Memory. It explains how they work and the way in which you can configure these technologies. I hope you enjoy it. As always I'd encourage any feedback. You can send that via email to virtua@microsoft.com

Look forward to hearing from you all and thanks for all your great feedback in the past. Oh, I'll also be posting a NEW series of videos on DM etc in the next two week so make sure you check back.

Here is the link:

This poster provides a visual reference for understanding key Hyper-V technologies in Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1. It focuses on architecture, snapshots, live migration, virtual networking, storage, RemoteFX and Dynamic Memory. You can use this poster in conjunction with the previously published Windows Server 2008 Hyper-v Component Architecture, Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2 component posters (see http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=5567b22a-8c47-4840-a88d-23146fd93151, http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=193499 and http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=179116). This poster has been updated for Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 with Dynamic Memory and RemoteFX.

New Hyper-V Information...

Hi Everyone,

Just so your aware, we do have the App-V Dashboard. Its got built-in charts, gauges, and tables that let you track any App-V dataset in near-real time. That means you easily stay on top of the usage, health, and compliance of all your virtualized applications.

Benefits of the dashboard include:

Actionable information out of the box. The dashboard comes with a wide range of valuable, built-in reports like top 5 applications used, top 5 users, applications never used, application usage for a specific user, system utilization, and many more.

Near-real-time access to key information. The graphical dashboard lets customers view any App-V dataset in near-real time.

Easy to build and configure. The dashboard’s wizard-based tools let customers easily create new dashboards in minutes.

Easy to customize. The dashboard can easily be customized to meet the needs of different departments and other groups. Any data set in the Microsoft Application Virtualization database can be presented on the dashboard, in chart, gauge, and table formats.

Flexible & interactive. Users can easily filter data and create ad hoc, custom views. Filters allow users to quickly drill down from high-level to more specific data

In fact, this was my first one so let’s just say it’s going back …hummm… a year or two :)

This poster, originally published in the March-April 2006 edition of TechNet Magazine, provides a strong visual tool to aide in the understanding of Active Directory components and technologies. From Site Component Topology, to Security, to Group Policy and more, this poster distills all of the must-have information about Active Directory into one easy reference.

Despite its age, some concepts and basics never change that much. Forgive this shameless plug for an older poster :)
