Yes, Windows 7 will be available in time for the holiday season. The Windows team announced today on the Windows Blog that Windows 7 will be in stores beginning October 22nd.
Also check out the post to learn more about the Windows 7 Upgrade Option Program, which enables retailers and OEMs to offer a special deal to upgrade to Windows 7 for customers purchasing a qualifying PC prior to October 22.
Another important date: The Windows team anticipates RTM code for Windows 7 in the second half of July, and RTM code for Windows Server 2008 R2 available in this time frame as well.
