I’ve been asked by the academic team to speaking at the Graduates in I.T. event in Canary Wharf on Oct 30th. I can’t wait to tell them all about the exciting world of IT, off shoring, Software + Services, and the role they play in it all! Hopefully I won’t smash too many dreams, but more importantly, I hope to refine the expectations of those truly interested in being an enterprise technologists.
The real world of IT is actually a pretty scary place. All the cool technology you read about online and use as a consumer is covered up by old ideas and outdated practices in many organisations. If you are excited about the prospects of being a graduate who will help bring some of that ‘Generation Y’ thinking to the IT industry then you will have a bright future in the IT industry. The reality is the world of IT is one of the only industries that is always constantly changing and this can make for a highly rewarding career if you know what to expect and how to wield the power the market that given your generation. Learn why the industry is scared of you and why that is a good thing. If there ever was a time to consider a job in IT, it is now.
Graduates in IT is an event focused on channelling the best and brightest graduates in the UK into the IT and Telecoms sector via an invite only event.
Between 1996 and 2002 the Graduates in IT event attracted the top graduates from around the country.
