Then I didn't start the voice recorder properly and we had to record the whole interview a second time.
I'm pretty pleased with the interview - Jeffrey also explains why he makes time for communities - it's not just because he's a nice guy it makes commercial sense.

I need to say a quick thank you to David for helping me get this hosted on Technet EDGE I've got more stuff in the queue :-)

Technorati tags: Jeffrey Snover, Podcast, interview, Powershell

Interview with Christine Betts.

Christine is a Senior Director of Microsoft - and ultimately responsible for a lot of the programmes I work on. She's a Brit living in Redmond and she came over for Tech-ed IT forum back in November: over dinner she seemed so approachable that I asked if she'd do a video for us. We start by talking about here role as head of Audience Marketing and the role of evangelists (or what I'm doing here), and get on to mentoring and what it's like doing a job like hers. Even if you're not in IT there are couple of great "life and work" quotes in there. I said that Gordon Frazer was as pleasant off camera as he was on it, and Christine was the same. Nice people do make it to the top in Microsoft.

We wanted content you could either view in-situ or download. We wanted easy uploads for ourselves. We wanted people to be able to subscribe via RSS. We wanted to know who how many readers bothered to listen-to or watch the content. We wanted a bunch of things and we couldn't get all of them. And we've spent quite a lot of time tied up in Red-Tape. Eventually we got permission to circumvent all of it and post Videos to the (still beta) Soapbox service. That won't be the early service we use over the next few posts, as those awfully nice people at TechNet Radio are also hosting some audio for us. Hopefully we'll get this service back on track.

Gordon Frazer Managing Director of Microsoft UK... let's start at the top

This is the first post on what we hope will be a long lived audio and Video blog site.
Microsoft UK have a new Managing Director. On the day his appointment was announced, I asked Gordon if he would appear in the first of these videos, and he said yes. When he'd been in the job for just 3 days, we recorded this interview with him.Off camera he was just as friendly and personable as he appears on it, and we've said we'll do another one in a few months time.
