The Solution Accelerator Team has just released the Microsoft Assessment and Planning (MAP) Toolkit 5.0 Beta 1 on Microsoft Connect.
Beyond the existing assessment features for upgrades and virtualization, MAP now offers Microsoft Office 2010 upgrade assessment, discovery, inventory and LAMP stack detection for Linux and the ability to report on software usage for Microsoft Windows Server products and Microsoft SharePoint. This new Software Usage Tracking feature reports on users and devices connecting to a Windows Server product or SharePoint in order to help you determine the right number of Client Access Licenses. The MAP Toolkit works without software agents by remotely connecting to Windows Servers, SQL Server databases and Linux machines to collect hardware and software inventory information which is used to make a variety of assessments. If you have questions about the Toolkit, you can contact the MAP development team.
