MOM 2005 SP1 Delivers Support of Windows Server 2008

Further to last week's announcement on support of Windows Server 2008 by Operations Manager 2007 SP1 and Essentials 2007 SP1, the Operations Manager team is pleased to announce that MOM 2005 SP1 is now supported on Windows Server 2008 (as detailed below).

Installing MOM2005 on Windows Server 2008

Only the MOM 2005 SP1 Agent role is supported in Windows Server 2008. Other MOM 2005 roles are not supported in Windows Server 2008, as indicated in the following table.

Windows Server 2008 Management packs:

A total of 19 new Management Packs for MOM2005 will be delivered through the System Center Catalog as follows:

  • Available now: Active Directory (AD), Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS), Failover Clustering, Streaming Media Services, Terminal Services (TS), Fax Server, Internet Information Services (IIS), and Network Load Balancing (NLB).
  • Available through Q3 CY2008: Active Directory Certificate Services (ADCS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Windows Server Operating System, Windows Deployment Services, Active Directory Rights Management Services (RMS), Routing and Remote Access Service (RRAS), Group Policy, Application Server, Message Queuing (MSMQ), Network Policy Service (NPS), Windows Server Services for Unix.
