After starting this blog I realized that we have quite a few people who are new to WSUS and they all seemed eager for docs and labs and whatnot to help them get started.  In an effort to help in that regard I put together a couple links that should get you well on the way towards becoming a WSUS expert, and who knows, even if you've been working with WSUS for a long time you may just learn something new.

========

Step-by-Step Guide to Getting Started with Microsoft Windows Server Update Services 3.0 SP1

This guide provides instructions for getting started with Microsoft Windows Server Update Services 3.0 Service Pack 1 (WSUS 3.0 SP1). You will find instruction for basic tasks for deploying WSUS 3.0 SP1 on your network, including installing WSUS on the Microsoft Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2003 operating systems: configuring WSUS 3.0 SP1 to obtain updates; configuring client computers to install updates from WSUS 3.0 SP1; as well as approving, managing, and distributing updates. Although WSUS 3.0 SP1 is a feature-rich, update-management solution, this guide offers only a single way to accomplish any of these tasks.

  • I have a simple WSUS questions on WSUS 3.0SP1.

    Should the WSUS Server show up in the computers group, or does it not see it self.

    I want to know how does it update itself.

    Thanks,

    Mike

  • Hello,

    Do you have any document/link where I can find instructions to calculate the Bandwidth needed for WSUS 3.0 implementation?

    Thanks,

    Eduardo

  • Is it possible for WSUS to pull it's updates from a specific gateway? We are deploying it on a server that has other services running, that have to be on the normal gateway, but would be very nice to have it pull them from a private gateway.

    If anyone has the answer to this please reply to tj5182@hotmail.com

    Thanks!
