Could you tell us a bit about your experience with Windows 8 and developing for Windows 8?
My experience with Windows 8 has been amazing! Ever since I started using the Developer’s Preview I fell in love with it. I started developing from void and today here I’m with three successful app at windows store. One thing making me stick with the store is the Windows SDK. For a developer an SDK means the blessing from heaven. It helps a developer to develop anything he wants, yet it leaves a challenge for him to take his best out to face the ambiguous troubles. And I feel like exposure to these kind of troubles make us even stronger.
My name is Fabian Hurnaus and I am 17 years old. I attend the BBS-Rohrbach in Austria.
About six months ago my teacher in Software Development invited me to visit a Windows Phone Developer Conference for students. Before my visit to this Conference I was not a big fan of Windows Phone (to be honest, the main reason why I joined the event was the free pizza afterwards).
Against all my expectations the event was awesome. I learned so many new things and at the end I won a Nokia Lumia 800. Back at home I started to write my first "Hello World" application for Windows Phone. The following weeks I developed some small Windows Phone applications and XNA games.
We’re excited to announce that the Getting Started Guide has been updated to include Windows Phone 8! This resource will help you build your first Windows Phone app and join this new movement in technology. You don’t have to be a professional developer to build apps, just follow these steps to get started. The professional developer tools are available to students at no cost and you can create a Windows Phone app even if you don’t have a Windows Phone. Follow these three simple steps to start:
Student-developed app BeatBox free allows you record audio samples, polish them and use them in projects. You can create a timeline, edit the audio and share the files with others. You can also add effects such as drums and bass on fun projects. It has received a rating of 4 out of 5 starts in the Windows Phone store and has 561 ratings, so don’t miss it!
A big shout out to Ben Lower and all the student developers that participated in the exciting chat this morning on the Microsoft Student Facebook page! If you missed it or want to read the advice that Ben gave your peers, we have recapped the conversation below, everything from one of Ben’s colleagues cheering him on to Ben’s Aunt Susan wishing him good luck and all of the awesome student dev questions in between. Thanks again for asking such wonderful questions about your experience with developing with Windows Phone. Ben was excited that so many of you participated!
