What inspired you to start developing? What age were you when you started?
I was always fascinated by computers. Unfortunately I couldn’t have one until I was in college. The thing about computer that amazes me a lot is its limitless possibilities. You can do a lot in a computer, you can make a computer do a lot. The power it gives you is fascinating. It also gives the freedom to be creative, creative in UI, in code, in software, everything. Why I started developing? Because it amazed me, at first I couldn’t just figure it out, but I was fascinated with programming, code and neat designs. It is not easy, it is challenging and that’s what keeps you going. I started just few years back and have come a long way. I think it has been just 3 years of coding, I wish I had started earlier.
Could you tell us about the apps that you have built?
There’s one very recent app that we’ve been working on. It is called Eduheap. The app basically collects and collates all the educational videos at one single place. The videos can be accessed via the website or via the Windows 8 app that we’ve made. There is a lot of innovation that we’ve put into Eduheap. We tried addressing all the common issues that are faced by the students in the current online education scenario and we’ve addressed all these via Eduheap. We’ve developed features like SuperView, Live Chat etc. which helps alleviate common problems like needing to back to the previous video and getting help.
Eduheap is really more of a platform and then an app. Although currently we are only available on the Windows 8 but you will soon find more of Eduheap on other platforms as well.
Could you tell us about anything that you have had to overcome while developing?
There are times when everyone thinks that everything is futile and they are banging their heads against a wall. There have been plenty of times when I’ve felt overwhelmed with the problem at hand but what I’ve found through experience is that once you get your head around the problem, it is very easy to deal with it. I’ve found that not losing hope and being tenacious in keep trying again is something that can help you overcome any obstacle that might be in front of you.
Do you have any advice for your student peers?
The best advice that I have for everyone is that one should always aim for perfection. My philosophy is that if you’re going to go do a thing then you should be best at it and that is why we should put our best out there and that is why we should aim for perfection. Another thing that people tend to overlook is that instead of focusing on the product, we should focus on the people who will be using the product. This way, we can build our product based on actual people and this is the way we have the best user experience. And a good user experience goes a long-long way.
Please tell us about participating in Imagine Cup.
Imagine Cup was a huge opportunity for me. I’d recommend every aspiring student out there to participate in Imagine Cup as this is one competition that has the ability to put your idea on the map. No matter how good your idea is if people don’t know about it then it is of no use. I went into the competition with Eduheap. Eduheap is an educational portal which is set to revolutionize the education all over the world. We bring educational videos from all the different source at one single place. We ranked third in the National Finals of the Imagine Cup.
I learned a lot from participating in the Imagine Cup. I learned about the importance of hard work, dedication and most importantly about the team work. Even though we didn’t win this time around in the Imagine Cup, we are going to continue with our idea and develop Eduheap into a force to reckon with. You can find out more about Eduheap here.
