Live Facebook Chat Event

On Tuesday, November 6, 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM PDT (find your time zone here) we will bring Microsoft Developer Evangelist, Jeremy Foster to the Microsoft Student Experience Facebook page for a live chat about Windows Store app development for the just-released Windows 8. Join us on Tuesday, and ask Jeremy all of your development-related questions. Don’t forget to RSVP to attend the Facebook chat on Tuesday. We asked Jeremy a few questions so you could get to know him before the chat.

Jeremy’s Job at Microsoft

Jeremy has worked for Microsoft for almost a year. As a Developer Evangelist, his role is to inform and inspire software developers about Microsoft’s tools and platforms. He says his favorite part about his job is presenting and telling people all about Microsoft products. Jeremy encourages new developers to not get discouraged when they encounter obstacles while writing code and says the best way to learn is to write real apps.

Windows 8 We asked Jeremy if he had any tips and advice to share before the chat and this is what he had to say:

What is your favorite Windows Store app and why?

OneNote MX because it’s an extension of my brain.

Where can students connect with you/follow you?

@codefoster and codefoster.com.

Is there anything else you would like to tell Microsoft Student followers before the chat?

You are potentially entering what is certainly the greatest career track in the world. Software is the most complex creation of mankind… even more complicated than a manned mission to outer space. Stick with it and you will be challenged, inspired, and rewarded. Dedicate yourself to being EXCELLENT at your craft and put in the hours it will require of you. Don’t get arrogant. Always ask questions. Always learn. Always move forward. Oh yeah, and follow me on Twitter @codefoster :).
