The wonder that is the Microsoft Office system

A place to share my thoughts and findings on all things Microsoft Office and anything else that I've found interesting in the big bad world of technology.

No holds barred opinion of a Google Apps

Here is an interesting response by one of our Partners to the recent announcement by Google offering Apps for your Domain. Obviously it would be foolish to think that the Google support situation won't change and the comparison is a little unbalanced in terms of the current states of the two technologies but it's good to see that our partners aren't waiting for the Google stuff to mature before taking it seriously and fighting back with their message to customers.

  • I think this sort of tongue in cheek press release while basically true in spirit, undermines Microsoft and their partner's attempt to "play nice".

The fact that it is so baldy worded and repetitive provides additional cannon fodder to those who would accuse Microsoft and co of being arrogant about its superior position. This press release has a Larry Ellison-esc feel to it.

Further if Google turns around and ends up providing some of the services mentioned to not exist in their solution, I believe they will be eating a large slice of humble pie.

So Cheers to stating some interesting and I think obvious facts. Next time lets be a little more civil, and maybe use a confident yet modest approach to stating opinions on competitors solutions.

  • Well said Daniel. I hope that it was orginally intended 'tongue in cheek' and as I said in my post we'd all be naive to think that the Google Apps won't mature over time.
