[UPDATE: an additional localized fix for SharePoint for this CU was released on August 22nd: 2760757 - included in the list below]
The product group released the August 2014 Cumulative Update for the SharePoint 2010 product family.
Be aware that the August Cumulative Update for SharePoint 2010 is a Post-SP2 hotfix. It is recommended to have SP2 installed before installing the August CU.
Also be aware that in August no so called "Server" or "Uber" packages have been released instead only fix packages for individual components of SharePoint have been released. That means if your SharePoint system is on an older patch level than July 2014 CU you need to install July 2014 CU before installing the below listed August 2014 CU fixes in order to update your system to the latest patch level. With other words: It is highly recommended to install SP2 and July 2014 CU before installing August 2014 CU!
This CU includes all SharePoint 2010 fixes released since SP1. The CU does not include SP2.
The KB article for August CU is available at the following locations:
The Packages for August 2014 CU are available through the following links:
After installing the fixes you need to run the SharePoint 2010 Products Configuration Wizard on each machine in the farm.
Be aware that for SharePoint Server you have to install the SharePoint Foundation fixes as well!
Is SP with Project (SP2) need this update?
this CU also applies to SharePoint with Project Server.
Ffor SharePoint enterprise we have to install the foundation patch now as well ? and CU's are no CU's anymore?? is this a one-time or the new standard?
Yes you need foundation as well.
But CUs are always and will always be cumulative.
The KB 2888925 link described by you as a SPF 2010 Cumulative Upgrade goes to a KB article about a Hot Fix.
Have MS dropped the distinction between Hot Fixes and Cumulative Upgrades (there used to be both) or is this link the wrong one?
The same goes for the SPS 2010 "Cumulative Upgrade" KB2889831 which also is a mere Hotfix.
Sharepoint Hotfixes are always cumulative.
I had a question about applying AND foundation AND server packages because you mention "Be aware that for SharePoint Server you have to install the SharePoint Foundation fixes as well! "
I had this update from Microsoft Support "Per the guidance from the SharePoint Team, the packaging of cumulative updates changed as of August 31, 2011. When applying the Uber (Server) CU, it is no longer recommended to apply the Foundation packages before applying
the server packages."
What is your opinion?
Many thanks for your feedback.
Hi Steven, please read the yellow part above: There is no "Uber" in August.
I have SP2 and July 2014 installed. I installed 2760757 and that worked. When I try to install kb2889825 I get already installed. Is this correct?
I double checked and this behavior is correct. 2760757 contains 2889825
I have updated the article above.
after updating August patch, i have found that version of database is different. any solution for the same.
I have sharepoint 2010 enterprise version. up till July patch installation Database version is as expected but after deployment of August patches database version is not matching with MS standard version.
Is KB2889825 also comes under AUG 2014 CU?
