The product group released the December 2011 Cumulative Update for the SharePoint 2010 product family.
Be aware that the December Cumulative Update for SharePoint 2010 is a Post-SP1 hotfix. That means that you should ensure that SP1 is installed before the December CU.
The KB articles for December CU can be found at the following locations:
The Full Server Packages for December 2011 CU are available through the following links:
Be aware that the SharePoint Server 2010 CU contains the SharePoint Foundation CU. And the SharePoint Server 2010 with Project Server CU contains Project Server CU, SharePoint Server CU and SharePoint Foundation CU.That means only one package has to be installed for the SharePoint 2010 product family.

Hi Stefan, I don't belive SP1 is needed (see KB-Article) :
Prerequisites
To install this hotfix, you must have -> Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 <- , Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 Service Pack 1, Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2010 or Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2010 Service Pack 1 installed.
Bye
Hi Marino,
that is correct. I stated "should" not "must".
It is highly recommended to install SP1 before the CU.
Cheers,
Stefan
Hi Stefan,
As we all know that June 2011 CU has issue in " creating a sub-site and unique permission". This is resolved in Aug 2011 CU.
My question here is , Instead of Proceeding with Aug 2011 CU in order to resolve the " creating a sub-site and unique permission". How about if i proceed with Dec 2011 CU.
I guess, CU means updated hotfix of previous version. So can i install the Dec 2011 CU. to avoid the error. Please clarify me.
That is correct.
Can you please tell me.
1.what are the possible impact could we face after installing the December CU 2011.
2. As per my architecture, we have 2 wfe and 2 app server. Can you tell me, what is the procedure to install the December 2011 CU
As per my view,
proceeding installing the Dec Cu2011
1.app 1
2.app2
3.WFE-1
4.WFE-2
Then restarting all the server (i.e. app1 then app2 then wfe-1 and last wfe -2 )
After rebooting..
will run the PS Configuration Wizard app1,app2,wfe1 and then wfe-2.
Is this correct or else, please correct me on this.....
It's quite Urgent !!!!!
When I try to download the CU, I am asked for username and password.
Why?
Thank you,
Claudio
Username and Password? You should be asked for an email address where the download link is sent to. Not sure what you mean with username and password.
With the August 2011 CU installed we seem to have a bug on 2 sites which have been migrated from 2007 to 2010 with the UPS. Even though the sync runs and we can see the users, for some reason they are not showing up in the audience. The other symptom is when we try target a web part with a SharePoint group it reports the group could not find an exact match.
Hoping the December 2011 CU might have something to address either of these issues.
I'm trying to download the Dec 2011 CU's and the links in the emails seem to be broken. I"m taken to a HTTP 404 not found page. Can anyone verify if they are infact broken or not? I've tested on several boxes with no luck, thanks!
Yes, they were broken. I posted a support case with MS and the engineer there resolved it. Should be working again now.
