Leading cloud computing, big data and IT solutions provider EMC announced its participation in the Microsoft Cloud OS Accelerate program.  This collaboration enables joint customers and partners to accelerate the deployment of Windows Server 2012 R2 with Hyper-V virtualization on an EMC infrastructure to improve performance, increase efficiency and simplify management within the private cloud.

Windows Azure provides vital flood information to more than 2.5 million Brits

As floods plague the United Kingdom, the Shoothill FloodAlerts service, built on Windows Azure, has played a key role in supporting communities across the region as they try to predict and prepare for severe weather conditions. Since the flooding began in December, the service has helped more than 2.5 million people plan travel, avoid flood-stricken areas and prepare for every potential outcome by providing instant access to the latest weather data and water levels. Since last Friday alone, Shoothill FloodAlerts has received 1.6 million online visitors, demonstrating Windows Azure’s ability to handle the unpredictable peaks in demand.
