Nearly two-thirds of survey respondent organizations from Enterprise Strategy Group’s recent research on Multiple Hypervisor Usage Trends reported using more than one hypervisor. InfoWorld Technology of the Year Awards recognizes Windows Azure, Windows Server 2012, and Windows PowerShell
IDG’s InfoWorld Test Center named Windows Azure, Windows Server 2012 and Windows PowerShell to their 2013 Technology of the Year Awards, which recognizes the best hardware, software, development tools, and cloud services of 2012. InfoWorld highlights that Windows Azure offers full-featured Windows machines at rates that rival those for Linux instances on other clouds and praises Microsoft for integrating Windows Azure with other Microsoft products at “a level you don’t see in cloud-only companies.”  InfoWorld recognizes Windows Server 2012 for its long list of new features and innovative capabilities. The publication also concludes that PowerShell offers an improved integrated Scripting Environment, asserting that “if you're not already familiar with PowerShell, now is a great time to get started.”

Microsoft Open Tech previews VM Depot for Windows Azure
Yesterday, Microsoft Open Technologies, Inc. announced the public preview of VM Depot, a community-driven catalog of open source virtual machine images for Windows Azure. With this new service, the community can build, deploy and share their favorite Linux configuration, create custom open source stacks, and work with others to build new architectures for the cloud that leverage the openness and flexibility of the Windows Azure platform.
