“Hekaton”: Microsoft’s new in-memory technology delivers significant performance improvements

Microsoft Research recently published a feature chronicling the development of “Hekaton,” a new in-memory technology introduced at PASS Summit 2012 that will be included in the next major release of SQL Server. Within the feature, research engineers from the “Hekaton” development team discuss the genesis of the technology, how they integrated with the SQL Server team to bring “Hekaton” to the next major release of SQL Server, and how this integration has delivered a product that will bring dramatic performance improvements to customers.
