Microsoft Celebrates 10 Years of the Trustworthy Computing Group
This week marks the 10 year milestone of when Bill Gates sent his Trustworthy Computing (TwC) memo to all employees, calling on them to rethink their approach to products and strive to deliver products that are “as available, reliable and secure as standard services such as electricity, water services, and telephony.” This was a big, bold goal certainly, but also one that security and privacy professionals could really embrace.
Ten years have completely changed computing. We went from PCs and dial-up Internet to smartphones that are constantly connected to Cloud services and do things that our old personal computers could never dream of. These changes, combined with the growing integration of computing into our daily lives, means that Trustworthy Computing is needed now more than ever. The Trustworthy Computing team is marking the milestone today on the Microsoft News Center and with this info graphic that captures points in time from the 10 year journey. Also visit the Microsoft Security Blog, the SDL blog, or the TwC blog, where you’ll find some other posts sharing perspective on the first 10 years of Trustworthy Computing.
