In IDC’s Q1 Worldwide Server Market Revenues report, the firm reports growth for Windows Server in both unit shipments and server hardware revenue - hardware revenue increased 33.6% and unit shipments increased 28.3% year over year. According to IDC, the accelerating x86 server market increased demand for Windows Server, with quarterly revenue totaling $5.1 billion for Windows Server, which represents 48.9% of overall quarterly factory revenue – this is the biggest piece of the server hardware revenue pie in Windows server history!
