On February 18, 2011 OPENTEXT acquired the Business Process Management (BPM) firm Metastorm, a Microsoft Gold Certified Partnership. This is an ideal complement to OPENTEXT, especially when OPENTEXT is running on SQL Server 2008 R2.

There are significant cost savings.

  • For smaller installations, a single SQL Server license would suffice for both products, reducing the cost of ownership.
  • For larger installations, having the same database technology eliminates the need for additional DBAs. In a Community Content World 2010 presentation, OPENTEXT stated that a dedicated DBA is recommended with ORACLE™, but isn’t needed for SQL Server 2008 R2.
