  • Labor expenses are on average 24 percent lower with SQL Server 2008 than with Oracle Database 11g
    • According to PayScale.com the average salary for a database administrator managing SQL Server is 14 percent lower than for an Oracle Database 11g Administrator
    • A recent Wipro study also shows that training costs for SQL Server Database Administrator are 23 percent lower than for Oracle Database Administrator.
    • Wipro study respondents also note that maintenance costs decreased about 15 to 20 percent after a switch from Oracle to SQL Server in Teamcenter environments.
  • 84 percent of the Wipro study respondants also said that SQL Server scales as well or better than Oracle
  • The National Vulnerability Database lists 330 critical vulnerabilities for Oracle database between 2004 and 2008, and 0 for Microsoft SQL Server for that same period

Using SQL Server substantially lowers TCO. From licensing to servers to IT labor costs, ongoing maintenance, and even training and support staff, choosing SQL Server means reducing expenses at every step of the process. In today’s environment, that’s a difference no IT leader can afford to ignore.
