Nothing really earth shattering here - the previous version of FBA Configuration Manager for SharePoint 2010 (http://blogs.technet.com/b/speschka/archive/2010/07/28/sharepoint-2010-forms-based-authentication-configuration-manager.aspx) won't deploy directly to SharePoint 2013 so the attachment to this post includes a new version compiled the latest version of SharePoint. It also includes the late breaking fix for random errors about the Xml node belonging to a different parent. The process for configuring FBA in SharePoint 2013 is the same as it was in 2010, so this tool still has a purpose in life.
Great tool, but when I am using it on my environment alongside Windows Authentication (via Claims) then I am getting odd behaviour.
The display name shown in the welcome control changes from "Martin Hatch" to the fully qualified claims id (XXX)
My permissions have also been removed (I am a Site Collection administrator but I am relegated down to read-only access).
I also try to login using an FBA account (which I have granted full control through a Web Application User Policy) but that account is just getting "This site is not shared with you".
I am using Host Named Site Collections in a single Web Application, could this be causing any problems?
Ok ... scrub that last comment ...
I removed FBA from the Web App .. then rebooted .. then re-added it again and it is all working great
Any chance you can post the web.config files as samples? FBAConfigMgr.exe fails to load with generic error and cannot figure out from the posts how to construct the web.config files by hand. Thanks :) // David
Try this. It is a step-by-step installation and set-up guide:
this FBA Zip contain a WSP file, what is the important for it ?
