· A library that users or custom code can use to submit new items that need to be routed
· Where all uploads may be temporarily routed if so configured in the Content Organizer settings (more info on that below)
· A temporary staging area for items that do not have all required metadata. For example, when multiple items are uploaded to a document library they will go into the Drop Off Library by default, in a state where they are waiting to be checked in. You need to edit the properties on the item, fill out any required properties and submit the changes in order to have the routing rules applied.
Assuming these users also have email addresses associated with their account, you can also configure in this section whether to email the Rule Managers either when content has been added to the drop off library and not moved out of it, or if an item was moved there during upload but an applicable rule was not found to route it. In that case, after it sits in the drop off library for x number of days (where x is 3 by default but can be any number you configure), it will send an email notification to all Rule Managers letting them know there are items still in the drop off library.
In the next posting we’ll look at the rules for the Content Organizer feature, which is really the heart of the system.
If I copy a file into the "Drop Off Library" from a vb script the file just sits there. If I manually upload the same file through the sharepoint web interface then the file gets processed immediately. Is there an interval that can be set so the file will get picked up and processed automatically?
When i tried to activate the content organizer feature .It gives me error saying" One or more features must be turned on before this feature can be activated. "
The Site scoped feature being activated has a dependency on hidden Site Collection scoped feature 'FeatureDefinition/0c8a9a47-22a9-4798-82f1-00e62a96006e' (ID: '0c8a9a47-22a9-4798-82f1-00e62a96006e'). Hidden features cannot be auto-activated across scopes. There may be one or more visible Site Collection scoped features that auto-activate the dependent hidden feature.
I've tried to get this working on my test site. I have the publishing feature enabled, but when I try to add a rule, I get a message saying,
An error occurred during the processing of /_layouts/EditRule.aspx. Unexpected end of file looking for </Template_Control> tag.
I tried de-activating the feature, but that didn't work. No information in technet as to why this might be happening either. Any ideas?
I enabled the "Redirect users to the drop off library" option in Content Organiser settings for a site . I uploaded a document in a document library . But it did not move to the drop off library. Am i doing soemthign wrong?
Hi I tried to activate the Content organiser..But a message
"The Site scoped feature being activated has a dependency on hidden Site Collection scoped feature 'FeatureDefinition/0c8a9a47-22a9-4798-82f1-00e62a96006e' (ID: '0c8a9a47-22a9-4798-82f1-00e62a96006e'). Hidden features cannot be auto-activated across scopes. There may be one or more visible Site Collection scoped features that auto-activate the dependent hidden feature." is being shown. WHat to do?
I want to use the Content Organizer as a central upload point, but it has no regard for security applied to a library, so I end up with users uploading documents to libraries they shouldn't be able to even see. Anyone have any ideas how to get around that?
"Foo" + "Bar" ? Really? FUBAR? Wow! Subliminal...
Great! "Foo"+"Bar" =just "foobar" (wikipedia: nl.wikipedia.org/.../Foobar)
Reading and experiencing the comments above. Just as expected!
This seems to only work for doc libraries located at the root of the site for which content organizer is enabled and not for any libraries in sites below the root. E.g. enabling the feature created http://mysite/DropOffLibrary and allows me to to route to any library off the root, e.g. http://mysite/mylibrary but not to libraries in sub-sites e.g. http://mysite/mysubsite/mysubsitelibrary.
Am I doing something wrong? This is a critical piece of something we're trying to achieve. Please help!
If you get the Message with the Missing Site Feature 0c8a9a47-22a9-4798-82f1-00e62a96006e you need to activate the Enterprise Features for this site first.
I activated the Enterprise Features and still get the ID: '0c8a9a47-22a9-4798-82f1-00e62a96006e error. Other ideas?
Steve, is there a part 2? Expected to see a link on this page leading thereto. Good article by the way.
