A new home technology, known as femtocells, is set to end signal problems for ever if the claims are justified. The name itself is pretty awful, but that aside, the paperback-sized boxes are essentially compact, personal, mobile phone base stations that plug straight into your Internet connection. So when you make a call on your mobile, instead of it being routing round base stations and masts across the country, the call is sent over the internet using your broadband connection. 

 

Since I’m positive I’m not alone in having adopted a variety of weird body postures, plus running up hills and leaning out of windows in order to get a signal, I can see the attraction of this technology.  Read more here.
