Update on Exchange Connector

Update on Exchange Connector

One of the questions I am asked most frequently is “When will the Exchange Connector be supported?”  I’m really excited to announce that the Exchange Connector will finally be an official part of the product and fully supported when we release System Center 2012 SP1 Update Rollup 2 in early April!

At that time, we will release a new management pack (so that the data model part of the EC is sealed as it should be) and some updated binaries for the platform runtime.  Once installed, you will be able to delete the old Exchange Connectors you have, delete the old MP, and create new connectors.  From that point on you will have an Exchange Connector that is fully supported by Microsoft.

We will be introducing a few additional minor features based on feedback and a security audit and fixing nearly all of the known bugs.  We’ll provide more details on those features when the EC is released.  One important feature that we will be supporting is the ability to configure a run as account for each connector.  The core of the code is still the same so the configuration and behavior will be mostly the same.

This plan has been in the works for some time now and the developers and testers have been working on it.  This is the reason that we haven't released a EC 3.0 “RTM” release.  “RTM” was sort of meaningless anyway since the EC 3.0 is not officially supported.  Thus, there won’t be an EC 3.0 RTM release.  The next release will be in April in the product!

Feel free to share your shouts of joy in the comments below!  This is a happy day! :)

  • Great work. This would help the partners implement the Exchange connector solution without a worry.

  • Great news Travis - will Exchange 2013 be supported?

  • Travis,

Do you know if is it available a list of connectors that will be supported in the next releases?

    and

If Service Manager will collect alerts from third party monitor?

    Thanks in advance!

  • @Travis

Can we expect this product to be released in coming week.

  • Is this part of SP1 RU2 released today?

  • Any update on a release of this? is it rolled into the UR2 or standalone?

  • The update rollup 2 for System Center 2012 SP1 was released on April 12th. Just wondering when the supported exchange connector was going to be released? I would like to proceed with Update Rollup 2 but before I do I would like to know the status of the exchange connector. Thanks.

  • I didn't see this in the update.  Am I just blind?

  • We are targeting the official release for the end of this month.  It will require 2012 SP1 UR2 so get that in place first if you haven't already.
