I’ve seen this one enough times now that I just had to do something about it.  Attached is a management pack which will show you all the work items (incidents, change requests, problems, etc. ) that are assigned to you.

Enjoy!

Check out the MP XML if you want to see how I did it.  I tried to get it to show Review Activities where you are a reviewer but that part isn’t working for some reason.

  • Has anyone figured out how to make this work for review activities as well?

  • I'm still struggling to use this management pack for "WorkItemsNotAssigned". The pack is greyed out, and copy the XML to alter doesn't seem to proceed without errors.

Can someone help me, either by showing me how to un-grey the view, or what to change to make it not look at value [me], but to "is Null"!

  • My users are asking for a view which shows everything assigned to their queue and also assigneed to them so they know what needs to be picked up. Can this view be  modified to show this?

  • Hello Travis,

I imported this MP and created a view with criteria all assigned to equals me, but the view appeared as XML code, do you have any suggestions

  • We imported the "Work Items Assigned To Me" view into SCSM 2010 SP1 and while the view works great for assigning incidents to ourselves from other queues/views, there is a certain sense of quirkiness with the view:

    1) Work orders that have been resolved and closed still remain in view and show ACTIVE status.

    2) Can't modify the criteria/display of the view.

Any chance of being able to make the criteria/display available so we can modify it?

    Thanks!

    -Jason

  • @Jason -

The reason that the incidents show up regardless of status is because it is not possible to create view criteria (even in the XML directly) which filters out the status of each different type of work item.  Each work item type has different a different status property and different status properties.  So - in short, given the current infrastructure limitation this simply isnt possible.

Because this view uses criteria which the UI doesnt understand it is not possible to edit the criteria or display in the UI itself.  You could modify the MP XML to change the criteria or the display if you want though.

  • Correcting my comment above.  I meant to say:

.... Each work item type has a different status property and different status property values.

  • @Travis - The ability to create combined views (IR + SR + CM) with criteria like assigned, unassigned, open closed, etc, is so important for us, and in a way I can't believe this is still not possible in SCSM 2012. Especially as the console does not auto refresh or flag views with new requests, this may take the edge off of needing such views.

It's a strange paradox where we have a help desk that has the potential to do so much, from a simple request we can create domain users, produce virtual machines, push out software... But we can't combine views based on simple criteria??

I personal opinion... SCSM will quickly become the lynch pin to the whole system center suite, it's coming out of the shadows, but it needs to improve the analyst experience... Affected users get silverlight webparts!!

Having said that, so far it's working out really well for us :-) just a little frustrating when you can see what it could potentially be like.

At the moment there's nothing on connect to make any feedback on SCSM.

  • @Andrew -

Yeah, unfortunately, given the way the data model is structured right now this isnt a slam dunk easy thing to code.  We're working on some things though.  Stay tuned...

  • @Travis - Thanks for the update, i look forward to seeing what's coming. I can also appreciate the massive constraints there must have been to get the whole system center suite to a point where all products can be release together at the same time.

  • hey everyone, thought i would share. team cireson has just completed a new app in our System Center App Store that solves this problem!!!: its a single view that allows for you to see all of your assigned work items!, see very very relevant data outside of the base work item class, and even better be able to have preview panes that show you Activities pertaining to a given process, Change, Service Request, etc...

    enjoy : ): www.cireson.com/.../all-my-workitems

  • Hi all, Cased Dimensions has written an updated version of the "Assigned to me" Management Pack. The Management Pack delivers against all that users request within blog. Enhanced features we enable include:

    • View all Work Items and Activities in one "Assigned to me Folder" irrespective or Work Item Type

    • Search Work Items

    • Utilise work item default …“Tasks”… to the right hand side of each View

    • Open default Work Item Forms

    • Utilise default …“GROUP BY”… functionality

    • View Work Item “Type” and also the Work Item “Status” plus all other work item information that can be “Viewed” in a standard SCSM View.

    • Use SCSM Native functionality from other Views within Assigned to me View

  • We spent a few $K on the Cased Dimensions "Assigned to me" view. It displays work items of every status, so the view lists thousands of useless work items. Now they're asking for more money to limit the view to active work items.

I think we're going to have to customise some queues to limit the work items, not ideal as I prefer my support teams had access to closed work items.

I wouldn't recommend the Cased Dimensions "Assigned to me" view.

  • @James Hansen. I'm sorry to hear about your experience. Please contact Cireson at team@cireson.com as we have a solution www.cireson.com/.../all-my-workitems and be happy to work with you on costs in recognition on money you had previously invested.

  • The XML is empty is there a new link for this MP?
