I’ve seen this one enough times now that I just had to do something about it.  Attached is a management pack which will show you all the work items (incidents, change requests, problems, etc. ) that are assigned to you.

Enjoy!

Check out the MP XML if you want to see how I did it.  I tried to get it to show Review Activities where you are a reviewer but that part isn’t working for some reason.

  • @Tim -

Yes, you'll need to change the FolderItem XML in your MP (need to export it first, edit it, then reimport it) to point to the root folder like I did in the MP attached above.  Don't forget to add the MP reference for the ServiceManagerWorkItem alias which needs to point to the ServiceManager.WorkItem.Library MP.

  • Is there any plan to fix this Open/Closed issue? The current view is useless. Perhaps add a closed date to the Work Item class...

  • @James - As of right now there aren't any plans to address this that I know of.  Could you please suggest this via Connect so it gets in the queue?

Instructions on how to do that are here:

    Thanks!

  • Hi Travis,

So, it is normal, then, when creating a new view that Assigned To and Affected User are not available on the Incident Class as they are on the "My Incidents" view?

Is it possible to create as people above has requested a view for "all my active incidents" by manipulating the xml as your previous info suggested?

That "My Incidents" view is not very handy.

    Cheers,

    Rob

  • @Rob -

I'm not sure I understand your question.  If you want to create a Incidents Assigned to Me view you can follow this blog post:

    blogs.technet.com/.../how-to-update-views-to-change-the-criteria-from-assigned-to-me-to-assigned-to-me-or-a-group-that-i-belong-to.aspx

  • Thanks, Travis, I'll take a look at the article.

What I was trying to explain was when views are created via the console GUI, "affected user" and "assigned to user" are not available under "Incident" but I notice that for your built-in views they are.

I was hoping I could add "affected user" and "assigned to" user without having to fight my through the xml :)

  • @Rob - you sure can.  You just need to select 'Combination Classes' from the drop down when you are picking a target class for the view.  Then choose something like incident (typical).  See this blog post for a caution on doing this though:

    blogs.technet.com/.../faq-why-is-my-custom-incident-view-so-slow.aspx

  • Travis, that's exactly what I wanted to do, thank you. I hope "that company" pays you well :)

  • @Travis, how do you create a view using the combination classes for assigned to = [me]?

I've tried User Name and several others and they don't work. I see the "My Incidents" view uses Assigned To User UserID = [me] but that is not available?

  • @Rob - see the blog post I linked to previously.

  • Hi

Not knowing this posting was here I created a Feedback item today for a view that shows all things assigned to user (they are asking me for that).  Folks pointed me to this posting.  I imported MP but found and then confirmed on the blog that it shows all open items and there's no way to filter. :(  Need a view that shows all open workitems.  Maybe there's a way to do this in v2?   Thanks, -Kristin

  • Travis,

I understand this might best fit in Connect, but wanted to bounce it out here first. For the All Work Items - Open/Closed issue, would there be any way to combine views using an overlay method where we could select check boxes on multiple views and have them appear in the same (main) pane? Thus, we aren't bound by trying to call objects that don't exist in certain types. We're just aggregating data from different sources with their own independent calls.

    Thanks,

  • Is it possible to create a view to all work items assigned to a group (for example a support group)given the fact that i modified the problem and change request forms to include the support group as one of the fields?

  • @SAM - sorry, no that is not possible since each of those classes (CR, I, P) all have a different "Support group" property on them.  It would have been different if the propert was defined on the base work item class and inherited to CR, I, and P.

  • This is great, makes good sense. I want to clone this one and have same for "Workitems Not Assigned Yet" for our Level 1 staff. I suspect that more similar requests will follow.

I am able to change many views in the system, but this one seems to be greyed out. Can you help me how to clone and change that clone please (using GUI's rather then raw source).
