The step by step guide covers how to do most everything with Server Core, from initial configuration, role installation to command line and remote management. Please let me know if there is additional detail that you would like to see included.
There are also a set of scenarios posted and a survey on Server Core at:
In the left tree, select Server Core and the first item in the list “Tell us how you deploy, manage, and configure Server Core” is a survey where you can provide feedback. The other options in the list allow you to comment on the usefulness of sections of the step by step guide.
Note that this site does require a passport account and registration.

I asked this on a previous post but.... Can we try to do an Exchange 2003/2007 installation onto server core? Is there a way to setup other thrid party server apps like Coldfusion or something of that sort onto a server core? Do we have to do a full GUI install to get it setup?
Secondly if we did opt for the full GUI install is there a way to start server in core mode? meaning the shell is not loaded this time around or until I ask it to load? I know this is very unix/linux ish but would be a rather hot option.
What is the recommended way to configure and manage DCOM and WMI on a Server Core installation? Since there are no GUI tools for this, we are not sure how to manage these components. Thank you.
Server Core installations of Windows Server 2008 require a different mindset when it comes to installing
Neither of the links appear to work anymore, will you please update them?
