Sorry, let me clarify: The RC to RTM upgrade path is only support for TAP. I'll add a note to the article spelling this out.

Hi,

As you posted above this upgrade path VMM 2012 RC > VMM 2012 RTM should be possible.

If I try to run rtm installer it says that the upgrade is only available from SCVMM 2008 R2 with SP1.

Which is the wrong information? You will get a lot of angry admins if the promissed upgrade path is not available...

Hi the VMM 2012 RC is not supported in production deployments. If you review the licensing when installed the product you will note that in the EULA this is explicitly stated. So if you do take the risk and install in production and then call MS support for assistance due to an outage that will be unable to assist due to terms specified in the EULA.

Just to report a problem here - if I mount ISO drive using the properties of a VM and and choose to share the ISO instead of copying it (of course, I have already set Kerberos delegation in the properties of the host), the ISO mounts and is usable within the VM. The problem is that VMM sets the status of the VM as "Unsupported VM Configuration" and doesn't allow me to dismount the ISO. If I dismount it via Hyper-V Manager and refresh the VM, then everything is fine.

The error I get on the VM properties page is:

Error (644): The specified host drive \\unc-path-to-the-iso-file.iso does not exist on the host machine. Modify the virtual DVD drive property to connect to an existing host drive.

@Philip - I had to remove the beta VMM client before I could attach the RC host.
